Repipe Specialists in
Palm Springs, CA

Palm Springs is a desert resort city in the Coachella Valley with iconic mid-century modern architecture and a unique residential landscape. The city's striking aesthetic — defined by flat roofs, open plans, and walls of glass — hides a plumbing challenge: Palm Springs has some of the hardest water in all of California, and the desert heat creates extreme temperature fluctuations that stress pipes year-round.

Palm Springs' desert water and temperature extremes dramatically shorten pipe lifespan. Copper pipes that typically last 40+ years in coastal California often fail in 15–25 years in the Coachella Valley.

Why Palm Springs Homes Need Attention

Trusted Home Repiping in Palm Springs

Palm Springs' water is drawn from the Coachella Valley Groundwater Basin and is extremely high in calcium and magnesium. This creates rapid mineral scaling inside pipes, which progressively restricts water flow and creates stress points that lead to leaks. The combination of very hard water, extreme summer heat (regularly 110°F+), and many homes with original 1950s–70s plumbing makes Palm Springs one of the most challenging plumbing environments in the state.

We serve Palm Springs and the greater Coachella Valley. If you're seeing scale buildup at your fixtures or noticing low pressure, your pipes are likely already failing internally.

Common Signs Your Palm Springs Home Needs a Repipe:
  • •Low or declining water pressure
  • •Discolored or rust-colored water
  • •Pinhole leaks or recurring repairs
  • •Slab leaks or foundation moisture

Type M, Type L, and Type K copper pipes comparison

The Type M Copper Problem in Riverside County

From the 1970s through the 2000s, most homes in Riverside County were built using Type M copper — the builder-grade, budget minimum allowed by California code. Type M has the thinnest wall of any copper pipe grade.

In Riverside County's hard water conditions, mineral deposits aggressively attack the inside of Type M pipes. The thin walls deteriorate faster than Type L or Type K — often within 20–30 years rather than 40–50. Pinhole leaks, slab leaks, and sudden burst pipes are the most common failures.

Type K Copper
Wall Thickness: Thickest
Industrial / Commercial
Type L Copper
Wall Thickness: Medium
Premium Residential (what we install)
Type M Copper
Wall Thickness: Thinnest
Builder-Grade Residential (most OC / IE homes)

When we repipe your Palm Springs home, we replace all Type M copper with either PEX-A (our primary recommendation) or Type L copper — never Type M.
